??Growth spurts may cause obesity??

Growth spurts in early childhood could cause obesity, according to researchers at the University of Glasgow.

They reveal that added growth in early life can cause a metabolic rate in adults 20% faster than if the individual had grown more steadily.

It is the first time a study has shown that early growth patterns could cause long-term differences in metabolic rate.

The findings are published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

OMGoddess this is horrible!!! We must do something. We have to control childhood obesity or we will have a bunch of fat adults...OMG!!

I know you can't tell from my writing style, but that was an attempt at sarcasm.

The above story is true and has been picked up by several news organizations. Adding more fuel to the fire of the obesity pani-demic. All people will do is read the headlines. The study in question did show obesity in the subjects after growth spurts. The kicker here.....the subjects of the study.

Yup, that's right. The media is rapidly spreading this garbage because of a study carried out on Zebra Finches.

The study was never meant to be used in relation to humans. Yet that is what the media is spouting off about.

Where's my head desk icon.......

Our society has so vilified being fat that they will use anything to shove the message down our throats. Like we don't have enough guilt about weight as it is.
