There are no words.....

Really there are no words to fully express my outrage to this article that was published in a University of Toronto student paper, The Newspaper.

"10 Reasons it's not OK to be fat."

1. Public health care - why should the rest of us have to pay high taxes for you to eat yourself to death?
2. Nobody likes you. Except for, possibly, other fat people.
3. Even if you're successful, it just means you'll have enough money to become a drug addict and kill yourself like Chris Farley.
4. Because I don't want to ever have to think about fat people again.
5. Not only do you frighten children, but you're also setting a bad example.
6. You ruin pictures.
7. You ruin moments.
8. The thought of you ever having sex single-handedly ruins the day of at least 50% of the people whom you meet.
9. Because only aircraft are meant to be equipped with flaps. Their flaps serve a purpose.
10. It's fucking disgusting.
Check out what some others had to say about this....

There is also info on there to contact them about this absurd post.

This is another one of THOSE moments......

Replace the word "fat" with a race or religion and what would you get?

Is the University of Toronto under the impression that it's student body (and it's staff)are comprised of nothing but thin people? Do they know nothing about the struggles of college students with self-image, eating disorders, acceptance, et?

WTG U of T. You've just permitted and endorsed discrimination. How proud you must be.

Discrimination: treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit: racial and religious intolerance and discrimination.

Exactly right, Mrs.M. This is hate speech, pure and simple.

Very sad and scary :(

College newspapers often pride themselves on being willing to print controversial things that real newspapers would never print. Notice the "cool" usage of the "f" word.

Actually, this is the work of an immature, egotistical brat who will pride him or herself on getting everyone to "talk" about their article. The old "there's no bad publicity as long as they spell your name right" adage.

If the paper gets too much flak, the writer will claim they were only printing this to bring to light the horrible crime of "fat bias" and forcing people to see how wrong they are for secretly hating fat people. This writer will never admit that he or she is a total passive-aggressive loser who is desperate for attention.

What kind of person could think like that? Let alone write stuff like that? Must be someone with some really serious shortcomings they're trying to compensate for. Sad.
